there are no words for how great this live version really is.. I mean… WOW… It has been my favorite abba performance since I first saw it, and I still know why – pure quality and love! That is why I cant understand why they didnt put this on the Abba Live record!? why did they pic thier crappiest version from the 79 tour? to me that is weird… anyone who agrees? ABBA IS THE SHIT!

This is what music is supposed to sound like and how its supposed to make people feel.

  3. nemesisrogue says:

The definitive version. They were SO on form on this tour.

was a great tour and they looked their best too but actually i liked the dancing queen 79 version just as much but you could see Agnetha was struggling unlike on this tour

If there was any doubt that these people could play live,as opposed to being great only in the studio, well…this should put that to rest. Unbelievable. This versions’ a bit quicker than the original, but it works, I also love the one of the back up singers singing “kinda Soul style”. BTW, for the musicians out there in youtube land, have you noticed that this version is in the key “G” instead of the original and other live versions int he key of “A”?

nemesisrouge, yes they were performing great live during this tour. I think later on during the divorces, something was missing from their later concerts, which I guess was understandable. Glad I got to see them during these concerts in 1977 in sydney.

  7. bourlivak88 says:

yes, I noticed that..the played most of their songs in a different key in the concerts, probably because people know the songs so well in the original key, so this would sound more interesting…

    Beautiful memories from Australia…

    2 words

    lip sync

  12. markserjeant says:

dougydo109, You are kidding! This is live. All of these songs from the australian concerts were live. How can you not tell the difference?

  13. notsuretwo says:

Hmm…. I think dougydo109 may be right on this song. Abba recording relied heavily on multitracks recordings of each voice layered over itself. Gives it that complex tone. That is what this sounds like. It may be that this was the only lip synch song in the concert.

  14. nemesisrogue says:

Correct. Only a clown would say “lip synch.”

  15. nemesisrogue says:

if you noticed a drop of a semi tone then you wouldn’t say the tripe you did, about it sounding different to the audience.

  16. bourlivak88 says:

why not? it does sound a little different. If you play some instrument (for instance piano) and try to play some song in a different key than you usually do, it really is more interesting..because you are not used to it..

  17. bourlivak88 says:

the only other reason I can think of is, that they play it lower because it´s harder for the girls singing so high live, so that they don´t have to strain their voices so much.

  18. nemesisrogue says:

Got it in one. The girls’ voices. Plus, if it was dropped from A to Ab then Benny and the other pianists (even the guitarists) would have an extremely hard time. But A to G is much easier.

  19. iAigels says:

ABBA didn´t lip sync in concert. They played it in G Major. Many bands play high songs lower to make it easier for the singers.

  20. DazBradyLM says:

I adore this song forever I really do. And it is lovely hearing it live and not lip synched like it usually is. Wonderful. It is is in a different key. Not that I’m overly bothered:)

  21. swanstep says:

Wow, that’s just staggeringly great isn’t it?

  22. tirtahahaha says:

ahh.. love this song veeeeryy much…

  23. tuya444 says:

    yes, that happens

  24. longbody01 says:

Great time shwen you could take kids to a live concert and you knew it was live,

  25. elperromagico says:

On some of their records their voices were sped up. The original ‘Ring Ring’ is a good example.
